Exploring Britain’s remote and high places gives us a special kind of freedom. On the right day at the right time there can be no better place on earth than the summit of your favourite hill. Towards Adventure offers both skills course’s and guided trips, we also offer assistance to special programmes of either group challenges or sponsored events.

Introduction to Hill WalkingFor the real beginner, got the boots and the bag, but need the extra bit of confidence to get you going in the right direction? This beginner’s course will get you up to a summit, with a view to see, whilst teaching you simple hill going skills such as basic navigation and safety. Navigation for Hill WalkersIf you have done some hill walking but want to feel more confident about your route planning and map reading skills, we can help! We will look at specific navigation for the area you choose, as well as generic consideration for hill walking. The scope of the course is for you to work on areas you need to improve; we will adjust the course to suit you. Rope Work for Hill WalkersAs you explore the hills more, you may choose to start scrambling, it maybe that you come across something unexpected, or you may need to give confidence to a group member. By the end of the course you will have learnt systems for getting people up, lowering them down, and improvised abseiling. A combination of indoor theory and outdoor experience will used to teach the course. Guided TripsChoose a classic hill day or select a mountainous region, have you got a specific target or challenge in mind or do you just want us to plan a great day out. Ed has a great knowledge of Snowdonia, the Lake District, Peak District and Scottish highlands so if you’re not sure of where to choose he will be able to help you. |
